The other night Casey was going through some old papers and came across this gem. It was a card that I wrote to him in the midst of a relapse. I was having pain and tingling in my right arm/hand to the point where I couldn't use it. I'm right handed so I admit that I was concerned about what this meant for the future. As usual, Casey remained calm and encouraged me that I needed to get my left hand up to speed. So, I started writing with left hand. It was hard and time consuming! I couldn't believe the concentration that I had to have just to write a couple of sentences. (Just for fun, give it a try!) I don't remember now how long that relapse lasted, but I know it was a couple of weeks.
It's easy to forget about some of these struggles when things are going so well. However, seeing this card again reminds me of several things.
God is in control. Period.
Remind yourself of where you have been and be thankful for where you are now.
Have an encourager. Some days I do get down, but my family and friends help turn me back around!
But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. "The LORD is my portion," says my soul, "therefore I will hope in him." Lamentations 3:21-24
