In December I got a call from my old boss letting me know that the company I use to work for started their own team for the BPMS150 and asked if I would be interested in riding come April 2015. Oh my lanta! I was speechless! I felt so many different emotions, going back and forth between "I want to" and "I don't know if I'm ready for that yet!" The last BPMS150 I did was in 2008! Just to inform (or remind) y'all, the BPMS150 is a 2 day bike ride from Houston to Austin that is almost 180 miles!!! So, I still haven't decided if I will be participating, but I thought I would start getting out on the road to see if my body is up for it. Monday night Casey and I packed up my bike and a few GoPro cameras and headed out to a place for me to ride. It was a route that we both had rode on in the past several times. We got to my starting point and Casey hooked up one camera to my bike and he took the other and followed me the whole way in the car. (How awesome of a husband to be so supportive to ride in the car for 1.5 hours going 10 miles per hour?!) I will say the first 10 minutes were brutal! The wind was against me, it was cold and my legs were screaming at me. I pulled off the side of the road and Casey would tell me "you can do this". I pushed through and ended up riding 12 miles! I actually wanted to keep going, but the sun was down and it became too dark for me to ride. (VIDEO AT THE END OF THIS POST!)
I decided to push myself a little bit more, so yesterday I went on another ride. It started out pretty much the same way; my legs were not happy that I was doing this again. Instead of giving up though, I praised The Lord while I was pedaling for restoring my body. In fact, most of the time I was riding I was praying. What better thing to do?!
I finished my ride yesterday with 22 miles under my belt! I'm still undecided about riding in the BPMS150, but I'll keep you updated!
Rejoice in The Lord always, again, I say rejoice! Philippians 4:4
Casey put this video together from the 12 mile footage from both cameras. Check it out - click this link!
